Hotel do Mercado is a charming gem nestled in the heart of Aveiro, Portugal. Located at Rua Engenheiro Silverio Pereira da Silva 2-4-6, 3800-175 Aveiro, this hotel boasts an enviable position just behind the bustling city market. The ambiance is a delightful fusion of modern aesthetics and local charm, making it an excellent choice for travelers looking to explore the cultural richness of the area.
Guests frequently commend the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel. A recent review from Ken Wong noted that while the room sizes might be compact, the spacious bathroom offers a refreshing touch. With attention to detail, the hotel ensures that all accommodations are well-maintained, embodying a cozy atmosphere that invites relaxation.
Among the most appealing aspects of the Hotel do Mercado is its convenient location. As Luciano Nascimento Jr mentioned, it is just a stone's throw away from main attractions and the historic district, perfect for short stays. Guests can easily explore the nearby Aveiro Museum, which showcases religious art in a stunning 15th-century convent, or take a leisurely stroll to the famously picturesque Praia da Costa Nova with its colorful striped houses.
Beyond its location, the hotel’s quirky and arty design, as highlighted by Lizzy Backhouse, offers a unique experience for visitors. The warm and informative welcome sets the tone for a pleasant stay, accompanied by comfortable rooms equipped with good showers, ensuring a refreshing start to the day. Breakfast, albeit an additional cost, is reported to be delightful, complementing the overall experience.
Although some guests have noted minor inconveniences, such as building work nearby and the noise levels due to thin walls, the pros far outweigh the cons. The hotel offers an excellent price-to-quality ratio, providing significant value for its location and amenities. It’s also worth mentioning the extensive free public parking just minutes away, making it a breeze for those traveling by car.
In conclusion, Hotel do Mercado stands out as a welcoming and comfortable hotel, ideal for explorers keen on immersing themselves in Aveiro's vibrant culture. With its cozy atmosphere, prime location, and attentive staff, it promises a fulfilling stay that resonates well with guests' desires for both adventure and relaxation.
“ Very clean and tidy, the room we had was a bit small but the bathroom was big. I think they should remove the wardrobe doors, would be more convenient to move around since the bags can be placed inside the wardrobe. ”
“ Cosy hotel just behind the city market!! Location, location, location!! Close to the main attractions and the historic district!! The room was small but very well maintained! Good for shot stays!! The price was fair!! ”
“ An arty, quirky little hotel in a great location. The welcome was so warm and informative. The room was comfortable, clean with a good shower. The breakfast was good. There is a huge free car park a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel is located just a couple of minutes walk from the centre and 10 min walk to the train station. There was some building work next door but thos is totally out of the hotels control and the noise from it didn't impact on our sleep. ”
“ Price/quality ratio was good. We had a room in the second floor, towards the back yard. The room was fine. The location was great and there’s a huge free public parking lot near the hotel. The staff was nice. Cons: The mattress was relatively small for 2, hard and noisy. Be aware that there are two building sites right behind and next to the hotel. Walls are made out of paper, you could hear guests talking, showering etc. We didn’t try the breakfast there. ”
